I was bitten by the Kodak bug when I was just 9 years old - I have been looking at the world through a viewfinder ever since and now, 60 years later it provides my livelihood as well as my passion.

As a wedding and social photographer (weddings.davidrichphotography.com; portraits.davidrichphotography.com; pets.davidrichphotography.com) I have the privilege of sharing some of life's most joyful moments with people. But some of my own greatest pleasures are found away from other people - in the Outback of Australia, in her rainforests and oceans, and in the wilderness of many countries. These images are a view of the natural world as it has impacted me and my life; and sometimes as the made world has impacted Nature.

Apart from my last five years as a full-time professional photographer, I have spent most of my working life as a nurse in the areas of Mental Health and Addiction - part of every sale on this site goes to support the work of GROW (the international mental health movement founded in Australia in the 1960s) and the Salvation Army; two organisations with which I have a long and enduring relationship.

I have graduate and post graduate degrees in nursing, welfare, psychology and social science from a number of Australian universities, and a diploma in professional photography. I am a member of the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers, The Society of Nature and Landscape Photographers, Wedding and portrait Photographers International and the World Institute of Photographic Masters.
